Medical Bill Calculator
Your Bill Breakdown
Estimates only. Actual amounts depend on your specific plan, network status, and provider. Always request an itemized bill and verify with your insurer.
How to use this calculator
Select your procedure or enter a custom billed amount. If you have insurance, enter your deductible, how much of it you have already met this year, your coinsurance percentage, and your out-of-pocket maximum. The calculator will estimate what you owe after your insurer applies their negotiated discount and your plan benefits.
What is the "allowed amount"?
When a provider is in-network with your insurer, the insurer has a pre-negotiated rate called the "allowed amount" or "contracted rate." The hospital must write off the difference between their billed charge and this allowed amount. You only owe cost-sharing (deductible + coinsurance) on the allowed amount — not the inflated billed charge.
What if I don't have insurance?
Uninsured patients are often billed the full chargemaster rate — the highest possible price. However, you have the right to request the hospital's self-pay discount or charity care rate. Most hospitals will negotiate to 40–60% of the billed amount for uninsured patients who ask.
